DRAWING BASICS & BEYOND CLASSES

This class will address the major components of drawing using a classical approach, Chiaroscuro, concentrating on values, composition, line quality, and drawing techniques necessary for realistic rendering in a 2-dimensional work. Whether you have taken a drawing class before or not, you will benefit from this 6-week course. Students will use several techniques as practice and produce at least 2 major drawings and several sketches. Maren's previous students will receive extra project instruction for more advanced work. Limited to 8 students.

DRAWING STILL LIFE WORKSHOP (Intermediate to Advanced Level)
Instructor: Maren Phillips
Students will review basic drawing techniques, compositional ideas, and do warm up exercises before beginning a still-life set up for the entire class in the morning session. The afternoon session will be concentrating on setting up individual still life compositions, working on thumbnails, and a final drawing. Emphasis is on lighting, value, composition, and accuracy in seeing and execution.
